Job Purpose
The Wellness Manager alongside the Home-Based Education Manager will be responsible for identifying children within the Home-Based Education programme that are most at risk of neglect and maltreatment in their home/community/schools and design intervention strategies accordingly, including educational interventions for parents.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring all children on the programme are healthy and strong to receive their weekly exercises/lessons.
  • When working with parents, children and other stakeholders, promote human rights for children with disabilities and explain the child protection policy.
  • Establish and develop strong relationships with the Social Welfare department and orphanages, and ensure that any cases of neglect/maltreatment are referred to the department.
  • Network with other NGOs that assist children with disabilities to ensure the organisation is continually learning and sharing lessons in child protection interventions.
  • Conduct continuous Monitoring and Evaluation, supporting the M&E coordinator with data collection and analysis within the programme.


Required Skills and Competencies;

  • Ability to initiate development projects in local communities within this geographic location
  • Ability to patiently develop and nurture relationships over time with remote communities
  • Extremely organized and efficient in completing tasks
  • Ability to work effectively with remote or minimum supervision
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Strong financial management skills
  • Flexibility with assisting with projects that may fall outside of the immediate job description
  • Confident and eloquent in hosting both local and international guests
  • Excellent and efficient administrative skills



Primary Areas of Accountability:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Development Studies or relevant field
  • Must have a minimum of 5-7 work experience working with a non-profit in Zambia with a focus on Wellness Management
  • Confident in leading community meetings and reporting to local authorities and government partners
  • Proficiency with financial management (using Excel, online banking and non-profit accounting systems)
  • Knowledge of education for children with special needs and the social/academic challenges faced by children who develop differently 
  • Experience leading female empowerment clubs or programmes an advantage
  • Experience working with differently-abled children is an advantage
  • Demonstrated knowledge and compassion for disabled children
  • Competency with designing and administering questionnaires
  • Competency with leading focus groups
  • Fluency in English and Nyanja
  • Fluency in Goba and Lozi will be an added advantage
  • Competency with organizing and analysing data collected from questionnaires
  • Must be willing to stay and work in Eastern Province
