Job Purpose
The Cook will be responsible for preparing food to the exact client’s specifications and to set up stations for menu. Be responsible for purchasing, menu compliance, inventory, food cost analysis and food production forecasting. Ensure Culinary standards including recipe compliance and food quality are implemented.
Summary of Key Responsibilities;
- Cook guests' orders according to their preferences
- Act with appropriate caution in a dangerous environment where there are knives and high-temperature surfaces
- Select choice ingredients that will give dishes the best flavor
- Keep up with trends in cooking and the restaurant business to ensure that patients and clients have a positive experience
- Works quickly and accurately during busy periods,
- Occasionally take on extra duties, such as cleaning, when the kitchen is short-staffed or the canteen is particularly busy
- Take direction and work with the canteens administrative team
- Control food stock and costs in the department
- Ensuring promptness, freshness and quality of dishes.
- Implementing hygiene policies and examining equipment for cleanliness.
- Designing new recipes, planning menus and selecting plate presentation.
- Reviewing staffing levels to meet service, operational and financial objectives.
- Hiring and training kitchen staff, such as cooks, food preparation workers and dishwashers.
- Performing administrative tasks, taking stock of food and equipment supplies, and doing purchase orders.
- Setting and monitoring performance standards for staff.
- Obtaining feedback on food and service quality, and handling customer problems and complaints
- Lead food preparation service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
- Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
- Food preparation in accordance to standard menu recipes & methods
- Maintain an organized sanitized kitchen at all times
- Stock inventory appropriately
- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
- Correctly cover, date, & store all food items as per safe food handling procedures

Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualification and Experience
- A qualification in Culinary or Related
- 3-5 years of cooking experience as a Basic Cook
- Knowledge of preparing Indian dishes will be a plus
- Ability to manage simultaneous priorities and a large staff in a diverse environment with focus on client and customer services is essential to success in this role.
- Good understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
- Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
- Advanced knowledge of food profession principles and practices.
