Job Purpose
The Agricultural Programme Associate will design and implement agriculture projects and programs for all the captured regions. Work with Project Managers and Regional staff in providing training to Farmers on Post-Harvest Handling and Storage. Represent the organization at provincial meetings as requested by the Line Manager.

Summary of Key Responsibilities;

  • Assisting preparation of applications for grants and other investment to support new and ongoing agriculture projects;
  • Support the development and digitization of relevant training materials in collaboration with private sector and implementing partners.
  • Collaborating with in-country teams to design and implement health and agriculture projects and programs in partner countries;
  • Support development of capacity needs assessment tools for identifying, assessing and strengthening Aggregator/Agro-dealers Performance.
  • Assisting monitoring and evaluation of ongoing agriculture projects;
  • Provide technical support to Ministry of Agriculture and other stakeholders at field level in backstopping trainings for smallholders in production of drought tolerant value chains, post-harvest loss management, access and appropriate use of hermetic storage technologies.
  • Take part in drafting progress reports on various agriculture projects;

Primary Areas of Accountability:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Agriculture/ Agriculture Economics, Agribusiness or any qualification related to Agric
  • Must have a minimum of 4+ years working experience in Government or private sector or I-NGO managing Agriculture programs / initiatives
  • Experience in Agricultural Value Chain Development
  • Understanding of Food Security Vulnerability and ability to link analysis to programme design
  • Must have experience in Conducting Agricultural Research
  • Familiarity to most Local Agricultural Practices with a bias towards Food Preservation will be a plus
  • Ability to write, analyse and present reports
  • Proven experience in managing relations with International Agricultural Organization (UN Agencies, I-NGOs) and Government (Ministry of Agric)
  • Highly skilled user of Google and Microsoft Office applications;
  • Should be proficiency in at least  2-3 Zambian Local Languages (Major Local Languages)
