Job Purpose
The Head of Operations will be responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling all the day-to-day operational activities of the Bank under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer. The position ensures that all operational aspects of the Bank's activities operate in a safe and sound manner in the best interest of shareholders, the Board of Directors, customers, employees, and the public, while ensuring compliance with bank policies and procedures.
Summary of Key Responsibilities;
- Be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of Operations of the bank.
- Accountable for the delivery of systems, operations, process of the bank
- Creates the structure and processes necessary to manage the organization's current activities and its projected growth.Â
- Develops and implements procedures and controls to ensure security and accountability and accurate information flow within the organization.
- Constantly analyze and review current business process and make necessary changes so the best practices and policies are in place.
- Provide monthly updates on the overall status of the Operations to the EXCO and to CEO at regular intervals.
- Ensure strategic decision taken by the Board / Exco is implemented and progress monitored.
- Contribute to the development of the business strategy for the next 2-3 years by providing inputs on potential improvements for products and service, in anticipation of changes in external environment.
- Manage departmental budget and escalate items out of budget to the CEO for approval.
- Ensures that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.
- Maintains a sound plan of corporate organization, establishing policies to ensure adequate management development and to provide for capable management succession.
- Accountable for planning and opening of new branches (outlets) in terms of expansion of the business and business plans.
- Build strong relationships with key external stakeholders, government, suppliers, etc. to ensure correct focus and direction for the bank at operations and technology level.
- Lead, inspire and coach a team of high caliber professionals, creating succession to key roles and enhance the Bank’s management capability.
- Monitor strict adherence to governance and setting high standards of professionalism across functions.
- Ensure staff participation in various surveys / programs / activities either conducted by the bank or enrolled by the bank.

Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and Experience
- A Post Graduate Degree or MBA from any recognized University / Institute in Financial Management or Marketing
- A minimum of 15 years of business management experience across a range of departments within the bank
- Proven Working experience with Bank customers and Banking Operations
- Ability to envisage changes and take quick action.
- Must have a clear understanding of current Banking Rules and Regulations
- Strong general IT infrastructure knowledge
- Strong human capital management knowledge
- Must be a member of a relevant professional Body
