Job Purpose
The Accountant will  manage and process financial transactions, payroll, and reconciliation activities. Assist in maintaining accurate ledgers, processing payments, and contributing to the airline's financial health. Be responsible for payment processing of all invoices by way of Accounts Payable module within the accounting software system. Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, computing, posting and recording accounts receivables’ data. Responsible for matching and assembling documentation in preparation of payments from accounts.  The ideal candidate must demonstrate a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and accuracy in handling the company’s financial matters. 


Summary of Key Responsibilities;

  • Work with the Finance Manager to oversee the Finance function of the Group entities including leading the various accounting
    and finance team members;
  • Reviewing and managing the effectiveness of internal controls and ensuring strict adherence to
    the compliance requirements of the business entities;
  • Development of the business strategic plans including forecasts and budgets through
    engagement of the various stakeholders of the business;
  • Handle cost allocations, such as reversing overtime charges to the correct cost centers that benefited from the overtime work.
  • Process Aircraft Catering Orders, lunch box charges, and other interdivisional costs, ensuring correct billing.
  • Verify the accuracy and authenticity of all payment authorization documents, ensuring compliance with accounting procedures and organizational policies.
  • Process various payments, including salaries, wages, housing allowances, rents, utility bills, petty cash reports, hotel bills, and interdivisional payments.
  • Audit all payment documents to ensure compliance with the company’s financial limits of authority and accuracy before processing.
  • Take the lead in managing relations with banks, Audit Firms and Statutory Bodies
  • Conduct a weekly review of time sheets and accountability diaries against expense claims. 
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare financial statements including monthly and annual accounts
  • Work closely with the various Heads of divisions to provide support to planning initiatives,
    financial and management information, appropriate and meaningful reports and
    recommendations;
  • Ensure the accounting support function of the business is performing to SLA and delivering on
    the various agreed deliverables.
  • Verify the authenticity of domestic bills, ensuring they are original, approved within authorized limits, and correctly processed.
  • Handle correspondences and queries related to financial transactions and reports, ensuring timely responses and issue resolution.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by preparing the required documentation and supporting auditors in reviewing the company’s financial records.
  • Monitor and control daily sales reports, verifying that all cash collections are correctly deposited and that reconciliations are completed.

Primary Areas of Accountability:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Full/Finalist of CA Zambia, ACCA, or CIMA
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting of finance
  • Must have a minimum of 4-5 years of experience in a similar accounting role, preferably in the aviation or transport industry.
  • Proficient in using accounting software (e.g., SAP, Sage), Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word), and payroll systems.
  • Must be well-vested with the Zambian Tax and Compliance Requirements
  • Must be a member of ZICA
