Job Purpose
The Retail Operation Supervisor will be required to maintain and develop profitable sales within the allotted territory in accordance with pre-determined marketing policies in Retail. Leading a sales team and over-seeing the retail operations. Ensures sales of company products, services and benefits by responsible presentation, adherence to company standards and graphics. 
Summary of Key Responsibilities;
  • Prepares territory's marketing objectives for inclusion in company's objectives, analyses and sales records
  • Formulating beneficial marketing programs by account and issuing selling aids to Retail customers. Initiate proposals for marketing projects for company's approval. 
  • Promptly handle all queries and complaints relating to Dealers.
  • Continually gather information on competitor activates in retail by making regular competitor calls/visits or both and make recommendations to the Marketing Manager to secure and grow the retail business.
  • Ensure overall efficient territory management by promptly attending to all correspondence, queries and reports.  Plan in advance, on a monthly basis, work load to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Control overall credit position in accordance with the plan for the Area by customer and adhere to strict credit policy. 
  • Make regular collection calls, co-ordinates with operations on supplies, account reconciliation's, analysis of statements of accounts, customers’ profitability analysis, and completion of TAR reports and makes recommendations on credit limit revisions.
  • Ensure beneficial Dealer changes by: locating, interviewing and recommending prospective candidates.
  • Co-ordinate licence applications and assists and supervises actual changeover and carries out necessary training.
  • Constantly review new business activities and opportunities including expansion of projects in line with current company strategy by: Assisting in compiling data for analysis of any new business and Retail customer studies as support data for new business.  Initiates proposals and stays informed of changes in service station operation and is up to date on competitive customer acquisition strategy and advise the Marketing Manager accordingly. 
  • Manage and keep records of potential business opportunities through Garages/Oil Shops.
  • Enthuse Dealers to carry out pre-determined activities to the overall benefit of Dealers and the company and to service retail accounts to ensure good relations are maintained.

Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree in Marketing, Business Administration or Economics from a recognized University.
  • Minimum 4-5 years Marketing and Sales experience in the Oil Marketing Industry managing retail customers
  • Must have organizational skills and ability to manage a sales territory.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision, a self-motivator with excellent initiative.
  • Must be a member of a relevant Professional body
