Job Purpose;
The Regional Strategy and Product Development Specialist will develop products, strategies, and business plans for upcoming products within the company/region. Work closely with the Regional Product and Strategy Senior Managers to develop the in-depth research, analysis and tracking of markets required to drive strategy and product decisions for their markets.  Watch the market trends to develop plans that will increase sales, establish deadlines, and ensure the product development teams are on schedule.
 
Summary of Key Responsibilities;
  • Provide support to the commercial areas and market management teams in terms understanding the competitive landscape, market sizing and designing country strategies.
  • Research and compile reports on the state of the industry, trend forecasts, and competitive analysis.
  • Deliver insights to understand and improve product and business performance
  • Assist in the development and implementation of operational guidelines and objectives for the product portfolio.
  • Develop prototypes and document product specifications.
  • Evaluate consumer preferences using internal tools and turn them into recommendations for product enhancement or innovation.
  • Working with strategy team and the broader regional team in the implementation of strategic/high priority projects for their region.
  • Provide regular feedback on product requirements for local markets, including product specifications functionality, pricing and translation needs
  • Define, develop and execute the annual regional strategic marketing plan through gathering and analyzing market research data.
  • Take new and modified commercial lines products from concept to implementation across all lines of business for the target niche
  • Stay on top of regional market trends, product positioning, successes and competition and recommend appropriate actions for the company's nice based on analysis

Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree Majoring in Engineering, Marketing, Finance, Mathematics or Statistics
  • An MBA in any of the above fields will be a plus 
  • Proven experience in Strategy, Pricing and Product Development
  • Must have at least a minimum of 4-6 years of Product Development experience in commercial functions (e.g. Marketing, Sales, Customer Value Management, Product Development), Strategy Functions (e.g. Strategy, Business Development) and / or consulting experience in relevant projects
  • Understanding of subscription management services for the mass market consumer in Africa
  • Demonstrated success producing impactful recommendations, strategies and/or execution of projects to improve business and product performance
  •  Must be a member of a relevant professional body (ZIM or EIZ)
