Description:

Job Purpose
The Transport & Logistics Officer will be responsible for planning shipments of products and services based on product availability and customer requests. Oversee and manage company's overall supply chain, logistics strategy and operations in order to maximize the process efficiency and productivity. Assisting in the recruitment of quality truck drivers into the fleet, maintaining detailed records of vehicle servicing and inspection and scheduling regular vehicle maintenance to ensure operational efficiency, among other duties.
 
Summary of Key Responsibilities;
  • Oversee the Fleet consolidation, cost analysis, routing and scheduling
  • Evaluating, redesigning and implementing logistics processes for the company
  • Oversees the on campus fueling stations.
  • Reducing the Fleet’s carbon footprint and environmental impact.
  • Determine method of shipment, and prepare bills of lading, invoices, and other shipping documents.
  • Direct delivery tankers to shipping doors or designated marshalling areas, and help load and unload goods safely.
  • Direct or participate in cargo loading in order to ensure completeness of load and even distribution of weight.
  • Processing request for quotations in an accurate and timely manner
  • Coordinate daily activity to track location and movement of tankers /trucks
  • Provide reports to internal and external customers as required.
  • Ensure consistent utilization of the tracking system and proper interpretation of reports and results.
  • Responsible for all aspects of operation for a full-fledged vehicle maintenance facility and one satellite equipment repair shop
    Ensure unit compliance with all Federal, State & Local laws and regulations related to vehicle repair shop operations and vehicle and mobile equipment use and care

  • Review all processes and systems and design and implement new plans and procedures as needed.
  • Keep records of all goods shipped, received, and stored.
  • When Company Tankers are busy, negotiate and arrange transport of Petroleum products with shipping or freight companies.

Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and Experience
  • Advanced Diploma in CILT or Clearing and Forwarding
  • Degree in any of the above fields will be a plus
  • Must have a minimum of 4-6 years work experience in logistics and Fleet Management
  • Must have logistics experience of managing a fleet of 30 & above trucks
  • Working experience in the Petroleum sector managing a fleet of Tankers will be a plus
  • Proven experience of managing truck drivers of different nationalities
  • Must have experience in creating shipping/delivery routes and schedules
  • Must have experience in using GPS tracking system/software
  • Good experience in tracking shipment progress
  • Should be willing to travel at short notice
  • Must be a member of CILT
