Job Purpose
The Shift Supervisor will take full responsibility of the shift in terms of management of staff, management of production and quality targets and to ensure the smooth running of the production processes. Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications and direct setup and adjustments of machines. Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
Summary of Key Responsibilities;
- Administer an effective safety program to ensure safe equipment, safe environment and policies/procedures that define safe work habits.
- Performing all work duties within feed manufacturing, receiving, and assist with maintenance
- Take full responsibility of the quality and product that is produced within the shift in line with the company quality systems, processes and procedures
- Operate the facility in full compliance with all applicable local regulations.
- Supervise the activities for the feed production providing additional direction in an area where concentrated work activities occur.
- Continuously maintain awareness of any production problems and develop strategies and procedures to correct existing problems and help eliminate any future production related issues.
- Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Operate all area equipment/tools (computer, grinders, tools, fork lift, etc.) in any and all areas.
- Ensure that all team members can identify root causes and take fast effective action to resolve the problems in hand
- Complete production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries
- Manage, develop and motivate direct reporting staff
- Monitor, measure and report on production related process performance, general issues
- Ensure good communication is given either verbally or written to all members of staff
- Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures

Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Production Management or any equivalent Engineering Degree
- Minimum 3 - 5 years working in a manufacturing environment as a Supervisor.
- Feed Mill manufacturing background is an added advantage
- Exhibits strong interpersonal skills.
- Maintains professional but friendly demeanor.
- Must be Familiar with basic computer programs, such as Word and Excel.
- Should be conversant with the Scada system
- Familiar with inventory software.
- Manage time effectively and efficiently.
- Should be able to multitask on a daily basis.
- Must be a member of a relevant professional board (i.e EIZ)
