Job Purpose
The Chief Operating Officer will oversee on-going business operations within the company with much emphasis on Safety, Statutory Compliance, Production Capacity Enhancement Sales & Marketing Strategy and Branding, Investment and Development of Strategic Partners and Organization Change Management & Culture Transformation.

Summary of Key Responsibilities;
  • Provide organizational change leadership to integrate and align people, processes, culture, and strategy.
  • Foster continuous improvement and develops adaptive strategies that anticipate, influence, and respond effectively to organizational needs.
  • Manage costs and identifies new revenue streams through diversification, and development and maintenance of a modernization programme commensurate with the company’s business plans.
  • Monitor and report the company’s monthly and quarterly performance against agreed key performance indicators.
  • Update recruitment and retention measures in order to maintain a stable skills and base to improve productivity of the workforce as well as to meet the future goals and demands of the Company and its clients.
  • Develop options to automate and/or outsource labor intensive activities.
  • Ensures that the Company adheres to full compliance with all health and safety regulatory authorities, as well as environmental legislation in line to the set operations.
  • Communicate successes and shortcomings to the Board of Directors as well as ensuring clear and consistent communication is provided to stakeholders at various levels within the company.
  • Engage with strategic partners to ensure uninterrupted supply of goods and services at the best negotiated prices and appropriate quality befitting the parties’ operational requirements.
  • Engage with the unions and negotiates constructively to settle Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Identify and assesses global and local risk factors and advises the senior management team on steps to mitigate the identified risks.

Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering / any Technical field
  • An MBA in any of the above fields will be a plus  
  • Should have a qualification in Project Management   
  • Must have a minimum of 15 -17 Years in Operations at Senior Management or General Manager level in the Manufacturing Sector
  • Should have a minimum of 5 – 7 years’ work experience with a Mechanical Engineering or Metal Fabrication Company
  • Must have vast experience in the Manufacturing of Iron & Steel Castings
  • Working experience in a Mine under Metal Fabrication will be an added advantage
  • Proven ability of Building High Performance Teams
  • Must be a member of EIZ
