Job Purpose
Oversee all financial operations and direct corporate financial planning and structure. Coordinate, analyze and report the financial performance to Management and Board of Directors (financial performance, projections and other special projects as required)
Key Responsibilities;
- Be responsible for maximizing the return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems
- Prepare short and long-term financial forecasts of financial performance for use with internal management and external parties
- Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Oversee audit and tax functions, coordinate activities with outside audit firms and review firms performance
- Protects assets by establishing, monitoring and enforcing internal controls.
- Maximizes return and limits risk on cash by minimizing cash balances and making investments.
- Provide status of financial condition of the company by collecting, interpreting and reporting key financial data.
- Ensure compliance with statutory legal requirements by researching existing and new legislation, consulting with outside advisors, and filing financial reports. Advise management of actions and potential risks.
- Arranges for audits as required and appropriate.
- Manages budget and controls expenses effectively
- Develop, implement and maintain accounting and administrative policies and procedures for a wide-ranging set of activities including financial accounting and reporting, employee relations (hiring/terminating policies) and other corporate policies.
- Responsible for all corporate and human resource activities including employee benefits, retirement plans, corporate insurance and related activities.
- Drive the financial planning of the company by analyzing its performance and risks
- Retain constant awareness of the company’s financial position and act to prevent problems
- Oversee all audit and internal control operations
- Develop the corporate fundraising strategy and manage relationships with partners and investors
- Prepare timely and detailed reports on financial performance on a quarterly and annual basis
- Conduct analysis to make forecasts and report to upper executives
- Ensure adherence to financial laws and guidelines
Required Skills
- Mature disposition
- In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws and best practices
- Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting
- An analytical mind with a strategic ability
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualification and Experience
- Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Full professional qualification (ACCA/CIMA/ZICA-CA)
- Master’s Degree in Finance will be an added advantage
- Must have at least a minimum of 10 years progressive finance experience in reputable or multinational organisations
- Work experience as Director of Finance or similar role will be a plus
- Must have a background of both finance and audit (Must have worked for any of the top five audit firms)
- Proficient in the use of MS Office and Financial Management Software
- Must be a member of ZICA
