Job Purpose
The Legal and Compliance Assistant will provide support to Legal Manager by reviewing and editing contracts and reports involving confidential and sensitive information. File and maintain legal documents. With the assistant of the Legal Manager, manage correspondence with the court and clients.
 
Summary of Key Responsibilities;
  • Provides compliance support services to Legal Manager in the form of basic research, drafting and editing of business communications and general file management.
  • Coordinate appointments, including all correspondence and logistics necessary
  • Draft documents and letters from existing acquisitions using proper licensing templates
  • Manage legal documentation and correspondence in strict confidence
  • Perform contract management triage in the form of preliminary high level review of contracts and other documents; notes areas of concern for discussion with General Counsel.
  • Draft and process authentication of powers of attorney and other documents that may be requested by field.
  • File and maintain registrations with government authorities and ensures legal documents are current.
  • Prepare analysis and Board report for the Legal Managers approval.
  • Research and design legal compliance presentations for training of senior staff.
  • Assists in the development of confidential reports and presentations.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Legal Manager.
 



Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor of Laws Degree
  • Must be Admitted to the Bar
  • 1-3 years’ experience supporting legal and/or compliance functions
  • Good knowledge of commercial law
  • Must be conversant with Office (Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Should have excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Must be a Critical thinker and problem solver
  • Ability to work with little supervision.
  • Be extremely detail oriented.
  • Possess the ability to handle multiple tasks, priorities and confidential information.
  • Analytical, data management and report development skills.
  • Member of LAZ
