Job Purpose
The Head Regulatory Compliance will ensure that the Group complies with all regulatory obligations in respect of all regulatory bodies that impact on business in the African Region. Ensure compliance with all license conditions, sector legislation and regulations in Africa operations. Ensure compliance with consumer protection legislation and with content regulations and Codes of Conduct.

Summary of Key Responsibilities;
  • Ensure that the Group has implemented adequate measures to comply with license conditions, sector legislation and regulations.
  • Develop and strategically implement compliance manual within the Group
  • Develop a strategic compliance risk management plan and ensure it is implemented across the Group.
  • Compile and submit annual compliance reports to Regulatory Authorities as required.
  • Liaise with Regulatory Authorities in respect of compliance issues on behalf of the group.
  • Provide accurate opinions to the Regulatory Executive Head on sector regulatory related matters.
  • Ensure that the Group has implemented adequate measures to comply with Consumer Protection Legislation and relevant regulations.
  • Develop a Consumer Complaints Management system and ensure implementation across the Group
  • In coordination with the Competition team, investigate and respond to all consumer complaints received from the consumer protection regulators.
  • In coordination with the Competition team. liaise with the consumer protection regulators on behalf of the Group.
  • Ensure that the Group has adequate measures in place to comply with all Codes of Conduct on Content Regulation.
  • Develop a strategic compliance manual for the Group and all channel providers.
  • Ensure that the Group has adequate measures in place to comply with all Data Protection Legislation.
  • Ensure development data protection policies and ensure implementation across the Group
  • Monitor and assess compliance risks.
  • Develop training manual and conduct regular training for all relevant
    business units.
  • Attend to, investigate and respond to all complaints received from the Sector Regulatory Authorities.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships between the Group and external stakeholders (Parliament, Relevant Government Departments, Industry Bodies/Associations and Regulators).
  • Share and advance Group regulatory views and perspective with stakeholders.
  • Provide assistance and company’s expertise to external stakeholders (regulators, industry associations and policy makers) with a view to empower policy stakeholders.
  • Participate in industry wide activities and campaigns for the benefit of
    the industry and the Group.
  • Where appropriate, conduct compliance assessment and regulatory vetting.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders to assess compliance against plans
    submitted.
  • Ensure and monitor implementation of the recommendation

Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree in Law – LLB
  • Admission as an attorney
  • Post Graduate qualification / MBA is an added advantage
  • Must have ten (10) years of related work experience post admission to the Bar –preferably with a legal background and regulatory environment
  • With a minimum of five (5) years at Senior Management
  • Mandatory Professional Membership with the LAZ
