Job Purpose

The Key Account Manager will develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers in the mining sector on the Copperbelt, Northern region and North-Western Provinces. Successfully represent all brands of mining heavy-duty vehicles, trucks and equipment and overall, Vision and Mission of the company and realize excellent customer service and grow the Market Share. Develop and maintain strategic long-term trusting relationships with high-volume clients to accomplish organic growth and long-term company objectives.

Summary of Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and foster long-lasting relationships with key customers, particularly those involved in mining operations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between customers and internal teams, advocating for the customer's needs and ensuring effective service delivery.
  • Ensure the ordered equipment are delivered in a timely manner
  • Grow and retain corporate partnerships by developing long-term relationships with your portfolio of assigned corporate customers, connecting with key business executives and stakeholders.
  • Serve as contact point for all mining customers and sub-contractors
  • Execute comprehensive market research to identify industry trends, customer needs, and the competitive landscape within the Copperbelt, North-western and Northern Province regions.
  • Resolve customers’ complaints in an effective and respectful way
  • Gather, report and communicate customers’ feedback on service, technology and product delivery
  • Keep abreast with industry and market trends and best practices
  • Design and implement strategic account plans tailored to meet the specific requirements and objectives of each key customer.
  • Support Business Development Executives as required, but not limited to, assistance with preparing and producing quality sales documents and responses, to manage current and future complex sales opportunities.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for revenue enhancement within existing accounts, and new customers leveraging strategic insights to maximize these opportunities.
  • Meet and exceed sales targets by promoting company offerings, including the financial leasing options (rental and lease options across the company brands)
  • Deliver actionable insights and feedback to the management team to guide product development and refine marketing strategies for various products.
  • Develop strategies to grow the customer base through targeted new customer acquisition initiatives, particularly focusing on the expanding Chinese market and other segments.
  • Monitor account performance metrics and generate regular reports that encompass sales activities, customer feedback, and prevailing market conditions.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to inform strategic decision-making and advance account management practices.
  • Any other duties as assigned

Primary Areas of Accountability:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Business Administration, Marketing or a relevant field
  • Must have a minimum of 7+ working experience as Key Account Manager in a B2B, Mining, OEM or heavy-duty equipment environment
  • Must have proven experience of sales and marketing heavy-duty mining vehicles, trucks and equipment
  • Demonstrable experience in account management, particularly in the automotive or mining sectors
  • A solid understanding of the mining sector, including market dynamics, supply chains, and operational challenges.
  • Good understanding of the geographic and mining business on the Copperbelt, Northern region and North-Western Provinces
  • Must have proven experience in developing and implementing sales and marketing strategies and business awareness
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills necessary for building relationships.
  • Proven ability to develop strategic relationships and a keen understanding of customer needs.
  • Must be a member of a relevant professional body (ZIM or EIZ)
