Job Purpose
The Chief Investments Officer will lead and drive the core business of the Company by developing and executing the company’s investment strategy to achieve sustainable growth, maximize shareholder value, and ensure long-term profitability. The role provides strategic leadership in identifying, evaluating, structuring, monitoring, and managing investment opportunities to ensure optimal returns. Take charge of making data-driven recommendations to management regarding refinements to existing investments and assessing potential opportunities. responsible for executing long-term strategies and making investment decisions for your company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute investment plans and strategies based on trends in financial markets, macroeconomic conditions, and company strategy, and collaborate with other executives in the development of short- and long-term capital allocation plans
- Creates new strategic and tactical investment portfolio and identifies the best execution methods for those investments.
- Recommend investments, monitors the performance of investments, ensuring Company’s objectives are met and the strategic and financial goals achieved
- Effectively communicate the investment policy and portfolio decisions
- Develop, implement, and maintain portfolio strategies and processes; monitor performance, including cost, risk, cash flow, and liquidity; and collaborate with other departments, including risk, compliance, and operations
- Oversee the Company’s Financial investment analysis in investee companies and other sectors and conducts independent research to determine their viability
- Perform ongoing performance benchmarking to assess investment performance
- Develop framework for decisions about the portfolio management strategies used for investment purposes,
- Prepare accounting analyses, reports, and prospectuses, including establishing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures; forecasting future cash flows; and resolving accounting discrepancies
- Lead processes for all portfolio management decisions and implementation, including asset selection, portfolio rebalancing
- Develop and maintain reporting systems, analyze the results, and present the findings in detailed reports
- Develop and monitor annual operating budgets, including preparing, submitting, and monitoring quarterly forecast adjustments
- Responsible for overseeing portfolio allocation levels under various market conditions
- Lead the construction and management processes for all portfolio models, including ongoing tactical adjustments as necessary
- Maintain good relationship in the financial sector to remain fully informed on various sources of finance
- Actively monitors the social economic trends in the market to regularly align the funding program as per market norms and requirements
- Lead and coordinate a team of highly qualified professionals in portfolio management; business development; business research; property, marketing and energy related portfolios to achieve annual business plan objectives
- Set investments performance targets in accordance with the regulations and investment policies.
- Lead the Management Investments Committee (MIC),
- Responsible for the investments papers that go to the Investments Committee of the Board (ICB)
- Establish and reviews due diligence policies and procedures and frequently review team members to ensure continued and ongoing adherence
- Monitor investment performance through project progress and maintains alignments with project feasibilities
- Understand and interpret the Enterprise Risk Management tools, practices, and policies to analyse and report enterprise risk , and manage risk according to an enterprises risk management framework
- Oversee the administration of treasury operations in respect of money and capital and markets and custodial services
- Oversee management of the treasury system and the tracking of all types of new investments proposals in the terms of cost , schedule and performance
- Review treasury reports such as maturity, liquidity mismatch, interest risk gap analysis risk exposure, and concentration risk reports to enable management assess exposure to various risks in the operations sectors
- Monitor cash requirements and liquidity, including preparation of variance analysis

Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and Experience
- Full ACCA/ CIMA /CFA /CA Zambia
- Degree in Economics/ Accounting or equivalent
- CFA qualification is more desirable
- Master's Degree in a relevant field
- Relevant Professional Certification in Investment will be a plus
- Must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in investment management, with a proven track record of successful investment strategies of which 5 years must be at Management level.
- Exposure or working experience in the Mining and Infrastructure sector in the same capacity will be an added advantage
- Proven In-depth understanding of global financial markets and economic trends
- Experience with risk management and compliance
- Proven ability to collaborate with senior management and other departments
- Strong strategic planning skills, with the ability to align investment strategies with organizational goals
- Must be up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements
- Experienced in conducting due diligence and evaluation of potential investments
- Must have ability to analyze complex financial data
- Must be a member of a relevant Professional Body
