Job Purpose
The Workshop Manager/Foreman will effectively guide and supervise the productive workshop staff in order to ensure achievement of workshop targets. Be responsible for allocating & planning workshop jobs so as to ensure achievement of service revenue budgets/targets.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, train & supervise all technicians in order to minimize repeat jobs & ensure conformity to the Company standards.
- Manage and allocate workshop sublet jobs to ensure quality standards & timely completion of assignments.
- Ensure that repairs are performed correctly and efficiently by qualified technicians and that the service department maintains a consistently high level of customer satisfaction.
- Advise & assist in the sourcing of local suppliers for workshop consumables as well as identifying the appropriate stock levels.
- Facilitate effective communication on repair orders, defect reports, additional work done across the department in order to support smooth transaction between customer & service advisor.
- Conduct regular performance reviews for all technicians in accordance with dealership guidelines.
- Ensure that all repairs are assigned to technicians in an equal and fair manner.
- Ensure that Technicians clock on & off all repair jobs so as to prepare timely and accurate monthly reports on technician productivity, efficiency & labour utilization.
- Ensure compliance and adherence to workshop procedures as per Company standards & basic requirements.
- Address, resolve & follow-up all customer complaints in the workshop area in a timely manner
- Guide and assist Technicians in carrying out complex and difficult repairs
- Ensure that work bays are clean and tidy, all the time
- Ensure that workshop equipment, stands, jacks, oil drainers, parts trays are kept in a neat condition and are working.
- Ensure the workshop is opened on time and properly secured at knocking off time. Make sure workshop keys are securely kept.
- Carry out work in progress analysis, identify gaps and correct, corroborate with the Costing clerks, Technical Advisor and service advisors to have all pending jobs closed in good time and hence achieve monthly targets.
- Supervise Technicians, Apprentices trainings both online and in the Workshop.
- Accounts for all documents; ensures that none are missing, and all are processed correctly.
- Establishes and maintains customer follow-up program to confirm satisfaction with the service experience.
- Handles all customer complaints within 24 hours, informing other managers as appropriate.

Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree/Diploma in Automotive Engineering or related Course.
- Must have a minimum of 5-7 years work experience as a Workshop Foreman/Manager for a busy Garage
- Must have a minimum of 02 years’ experience in Motor Industry.
- Excellent Technical Product Knowledge.
- Certification in Ford & Vw will be a plus
- Must have proven technical knowledge and capable of leading the workshop team to achieve targets
