Job Purpose
The Branch Manager will be responsible for business development within the branch market to meet or exceed business development goals; development, coaching and discipline of staff to assure appropriate proper branch sales and customer service given the Bank’s branch staffing model; and adherence to policies and procedures. Coordinate with the Retail Banking Manager in implementing and carrying out bank policy and procedures with respect to overall operations of branch. 

Summary of Key Responsibilities;

  • Generate new business within branch market for deposit accounts, loans, and cash management.
  • Supervise branch staff, including coaching, development and discipline to help meet sales goals, strict adherence to policies and procedures, and to provide exceptional customer service, with staff level based on branch staffing model.
  • Approve paid time off, create schedules for staff and assure staff hours/staff costs are within established criteria.
  • Process loan applications; pursuant to authority, policy and procedure.
  • Prepare accurate reports as requested by management.
  • Handle customer complaints and inquiries.
  • Maintain a strong, visible and positive presence in the community through involvement in community events and clubs.
  • Comply with all bank policies, regulations, and laws applicable to carrying out duties and responsibilities.
  • Formulating and implementing marketing strategies to attain the set deposit growth and profitability targets
  • Prepare a list of all prospective customers for sales leads.
  • Maintain control of all marketing activities to ensure the achievement of all objectives within the allocated budget and determine all sales goals.
  • Conducts regular checks on service delivery by maintaining agreed Turn-Around-Time service standards to achieve customer satisfaction to maintain performance standards.
  • Perform pre-audits to identify & mitigate operational risks and ensure ongoing adherence to compliance policies and procedures.
  • Provide top-class relationship banking which is delivered in a timely, courteous and efficient manner.
  • Maintain knowledge of all bank products and services and assist to resolve customer queries.
  • Prepare and analyze profit and loss statements for branches and maintain all current business and ensure an optimal level of customer service.
  • Mentor and train branch staff to improve productivity and overall efficiency of the team.
  • Ensure that branch daily, weekly and monthly sales and operations reports are submitted on time.

Primary Areas of Accountability:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Business or any Commercial field
  • An MBA will be an added advantage
  • Must have a minimum of 7+ years experience as Branch Manager with a Commercial
    Bank
  • Working experience as Retail Branch Manager will be an added advantage
  • Must have proven experience in Credit, SME Banking and Retail Banking
  • Must have proven experience in Business Development and Relationship Management
  • Must be working as Branch Manager for a Commercial Bank
  • Should be ready to work in a multicultural environment
  • Must have leadership experience and ability to drive business and people transformation.
  • Must be well-networked with the Business Community within Copperbelt and beyond.
  • Must be a member of relevant professional body (i.e. ZIBFS, ZICA, etc.)
