Job Purpose
The Senior PR Officer will coordinating all public relations activities; develop a marketing communications plan including strategy, goals, budget and tactic. Develop a media relations strategy, seeking high-level placements in print, broadcast and online media. Will also manage media inquiries, relations and interview requests.
Key Responsibilities;
- Collaborate with internal teams (marketing) and maintain open communication with senior management
- Participate in relevant meetings including Senior Staff Meetings, campaign team meetings, media team meetings, supervision, external meetings and identify and undertake professional development opportunities.
- Responding to queries from Government Officials and individuals
- Edit and update promotional material and publications (brochures, videos, social media posts etc.)
- Prepare and distribute press releases
- Organize PR events (e.g. open days, press conferences) and serve as the company’s spokesperson
- Seek opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships and advertising through batter agreements
- Take the lead in managing and maintaining Work Relationships the Government
- Participates in all meetings/working groups related to the Government and to provide support on coordination work on common processes.
- Obtain and exchange information requiring discussions and explanations both to Senior staff members, Government authorities
- Address inquiries from the media and other key stakeholders
- Track media coverage and follow industry trends
- Prepare and submit PR reports to Exco
- Direct social media team to engage audiences across traditional and new media
- Leverage existing media relationships and cultivate new contacts within business and industry media
- Manage relations with Media houses and advertising agencies
- Work Closely with the Head of Marketing to monitor, analyze and communicate PR results on a quarterly basis
- Any other duties as assigned by HOD & CEO

Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Mass Communication / Marketing/ Journalism or a related discipline
- Must have at least a minimum of 6+ years in a PR, Government Liaison and Communications
- Must have worked in the Mining / Service Sector in the same capacity either in Government Liaison, Marketing and PR
- Must have very good/proven working relations with Government Agencies (ZEMA, Local Govt, ZDA & Local Councils)
- Proven experience managing media relations
- Proven experience in Public Speaking at Government Related Events.
- Background in researching, writing and editing publications
- Proficient in MS Office and social media
- Solid Digital Communication/Marketing experience with social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
- Event Management Planning experience will be an added advantage
- Must be a member of ZAPRA or ZIM
