Job Purpose:
The Human Resource Officer will responsible for overseeing various Human Resources activities within the Company whilst having direct working relationships with different departments ensuring workforce at the assigned location has a sound awareness of staff (including code of conduct and is also aware of its rights and obligations to comprise benefits, entitlements, recruitment, entries, handling discipline, attendance, overtime, leave management, guidance provision. Develop and administer training programs for employees, assesses training and development needs for organization. Assist employees and HODs develop skills and knowledge for them to effectively execute their duties. Work closely with the HR & Admin Manager on handling all training, rewards and recruitment assignments.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and effectively supervise departmental staff by ensuring that they perform their job functions as expected and that operations are efficient and effective.
- Handle and manage the human resources function by ensuring that operations are efficient and effective
- Ensure that separation dues, relocation allowances and funeral grants are paid to deserving staff in a timely manner.
- Conduct effective induction and orientation sessions
- Recommend strategies to motivate employees.
- Prepare and manage the annual training budget
- Assess employees skills, talents, performance and productivity and prepare written evaluations with advice for improvement
- Reviews existing training materials
- Provision of payroll input as well as checking and ensuring that all staff are paid which is due to them.
- Ensure that records of staff on the salaries and payroll system information system are updated whenever necessary and kept up to date at all times.
- Conduct exit interviews, induction process for newly recruited staff, debriefings including facilitating of the clearance process for all separations and ensure that separation dues are paid on time.
- Issuance of staff correspondence in a timely manner ensuring acknowledgement of receipt by the recipients.
- Investigate complaints brought forward by employees.
- Coordinate employee development plans and performance management.
- Perform orientations and update records of new staff.
- Manage the organization’s employee database and prepare reports.
- Produce and submit reports on general HR activity.
- Assist with budget monitoring and payroll.
- Ensure that changes to the monthly payroll are communicated to the salaries and payroll office on time.
- Submit monthly report concerning staffing levels, movements, separations, staff turnover rate.
- Assist with all internal and external HR-related matters.
- Participate in developing organizational guidelines and procedures.
- Assist with the recruitment process by identifying candidates, conducting reference checks and issuing employment contracts.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest HR trends and best practices.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and Experience
- Advanced Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management, Business/Public Administration or any Business Field
- Must have a minimum of at least 4+ years work experience Human Resource
- A minimum of 2 year HR work experience with a Construction or Engineering Company will be plus
- Must be familiar with Zambian Labors Laws
- Must be a member of ZIHRM
