Job Purpose

The Head of IT will manage and oversee the ICT infrastructure of the bank and administer the IT department. Provide technology vision and leadership in the development, implementation and maintenance of all ICT programs. Take the lead in the formulation of information technology strategy, implementation of appropriate information technology governance frameworks to effectively support business operations, and is also the custodian of the information technology policy. Working with Manager Risk and Security to develop and implement comprehensive IT Security Policies. 

Summary of Key Responsibilities: 

• Develop and execute IT strategies aligned with the bank's business goals, ensuring innovation, efficiency, and competitiveness.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, external and internal audits. Also ensure that security/regulatory certifications are met and renewed / updated as per requirement.
• Manage the day-to-day affairs of the IT Department and its human resources and resolve issues.
• Planning and implementation of IT and digital systems in support of business operations for the bank.
• Oversee development and administering of the digital project portfolio.
• Keep abreast of IT Developments within the Zambian Banking industry.
• Ensure best practices and adherence to international and local standards.
• Develop Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan
• Chair the IT Systems Committee meeting and advise Top Management on IT Projects and Strategy.
• Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of the bank's IT infrastructure, including networks, data centres, and cloud services.
• Ensure that the Information Technology function at the bank effectively delivers on its mandate to serve the business.
• Ensure the bank's IT systems and data are secure, implementing robust cybersecurity measures to protect against threats and breaches.
• Lead digital transformation initiatives, leveraging technology to enhance customer experience, improve operational efficiency, and drive business growth.
• Oversee data management, analytics, and reporting, ensuring data-driven decision-making and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Establish and maintain IT governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices.
• Provide effective leadership to IT department and work with the team in a manner that ensures a conducive work environment and employee satisfaction.
• Facilitate appropriate training and development programs, coaching and mentoring approaches and ensure that appropriate tools and resources are available to staff to execute on their roles and responsibilities

Required Technical Skills and Competencies 

• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, including networks, data centers, and cloud services.
• Knowledge of software development methodologies, programming languages, and technologies.
• Understanding of data management, analytics, and reporting.
• Strong understanding of banking regulations, IT risk, and compliance requirements and industry trends.
• Understanding of business strategy, operations, and management.
